Eric Nobbs was a South African actor.
Nobbs made his acting debut on the professional stage in the 1978 PACT (Performing Arts Council of the Transvaal) production of Die Keiser by Bartho Smit and worked for the remainder of the year under contract to SWAPAC.
He subsequent starred in several films and tv series including Windprints (1989), City Lovers (1982), Die Dood Van Elmien Adler (1984), Wie Laaste Lag… (1986), Die Prince van Pretoria (1992), Kalahari Harry (1994), Hansie: A True Story (2008), Kniediep in die Warm Water (2020), Gielie (2021), Die Byl (2019-2021), Moordenaars Karoo (2022), et al.
In 1995, Nobbs began producing his shows and then toured South Africa and Namibia successfully with his one-man shows.
He received the Johannesburg Civic Theatre Trophy as well as a Vita Theatre Award for his interpretation of Mitch in A Streetcar Named Desire in 1985.
In July 2002, he won FNB Vita Theatre Awards as Best Lead Actor for his portrayal of Albert Lombaard in Broekbrein as well as for the Best New South African Play (as producer/creator) of Broekbrein.
Eric Nobbs died on Sunday, October 23, 2022, at age 68 from a suspected heart attack.
