A former youth football player from Nigeria named Emmanuel Ebiede died at the age of 45 from hepatomegaly, or an enlarged liver, which he had been battling for some time.
The tragic news was confirmed by his daughter, Lisa Ebiede, to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Ilorin on Friday.
Ebiede started playing football in 1994 with the now-defunct Sharks of Port Harcourt, and at the age of 16, he joined SC Eendracht Aalst, a First Division team in Belgium.
In 34 games for the team, he scored four goals. Later, in 1997, he transferred to SC Heerenveen in the Dutch Eredivisie, where he appeared in 36 games and scored twice.
The former Sharks striker also competed for various teams in the Middle East, including Al Jazira, Al Ain, and Al Dafra.
Even though his career was very brief, Ebiede had a big impact on the football globe. His demise leaves his family, friends, and the football world at large at a terrible loss.
