A former Super Eagles player named Emmanuel Ebiede reportedly passed away from hepatomegaly, or an enlarged liver. He passed away on Friday at the Rivers State University Teaching Hospital in Port Harcourt.
In the 1995 African Youth Championship, Ebiede represented the Flying Eagles as a talented football player. He gained two Super Eagles caps in addition to playing for SC Heerenveen, making his debut in a pre-World Cup friendly against Iran, where he helped the team win 1-0.
David Doherty, a football official working in the UK, confirmed Ebiede’s passing and expressed his sorrow over the information. Doherty made an effort to raise money for Ebiede’s medical care as soon as knowledge of his condition became public.
