Charge – Arrested
Federal authorities have charged a Missouri woman with storming the U.S. Capitol and posing with Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s nameplate during the riot.
One tipster sent the FBI a photo from Hernandez’s Facebook page apparently showing she was inside the Capitol. A second tipster shared a screenshot from Hernandez’s Snapchat that appeared to show her under the Capitol dome, the complaint alleges.
Hernandez has not been arrested yet. She faces charges of unlawful entry, engages in disorderly or disruptive conduct, and stealing federal property, the FBI said.
Authorities say more than 120 people have been arrested in connection with the Capitol riot, which killed five people, including a Capitol police officer.
The documents allege that Hernandez was the woman in numerous videos and photos displaying Pelosi’s splintered nameplate like a trophy. The FBI received online tips from at least three people — including Hernandez’s friends and acquaintances — saying she was the person seen in a widely circulated video by ITV News, a television network based in the United Kingdom, according to the documents.
Hernandez posted photos and videos of herself with the nameplate on Snapchat and Facebook, the documents allege. In some of the photos, she’s standing in a crowd of rioters just feet away from a Virginia man wearing a shirt that says “Camp Auschwitz.”
The FBI consulted with the House of Representatives’ curator to determine the value of the Speaker’s nameplate, the documents say. The curator estimated that the cost to replace the nameplate would be $870.
