Produced by Phil Harding and Ian Curnow, “When You Gonna” was his debut song and featured Lisa Fabien.
Harding remembered, “We were at a stage early on with Rick when no one quite knew what to do with him.”
The plan was to make him popular in the clubs, but the song gave him access to Capital Radio.
Released in May 1987, the song managed to reach little. 17 in the Netherlands and No. 20 in Belgium despite receiving little marketing.
