Emiliano Martínez – Biography, everything you need to know about the footballer

The South American continent is a part of the world that abounds with some of the most talented soccer players. The name Emiliano Martinez might not be one of the most popular names in the world of football, but with more work and a bit of luck, that could all change.

The life of a football player is unique but out of all the positions on the pitch, that of a goalkeeper is quite unique. While other players are at the peak of their playing power between the ages of 24 and 30, a goalkeeper reaches his peak a bit later between the ages of 29 and 35. This could give a more accurate picture of Emiliano Martínez’s career trajectory.

Emiliano Martinez Biography,

Emiliano was born on September 2, 1992 in Mar Del Plata, a region in the southeast of the province of Buenos Aires in Argentina. His birth name is Damián Emiliano Martínez Romero. Very little is known about his family and childhood. It is, however, evident that he started professional football at Argentinian club Independiente.

He was a player in the clubs’ reserves when news leaked that legendary Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger was keen to sign him for the London Club. At first, when the Arsenal name was neutralized, Emiliano Martínez and his representatives thought it was an interest in Arsenal from Primera League side Sarandí. Over time, they realized it was actually the famous English club. The rest, they say, is history.

He was signed aged 16 in 2009 for £1.2m. At the time, it was obvious that this was a deal for the future. A promising, scouted young talent who, given the right circumstances and guidance, would become a full-fledged member of the first team. His career at Arsenal didn’t start straight away, as he was loaned out to Independiente for the following season, partly due to work permit restrictions.

Martinez was loaned to Oxford United and here he got his first experience of English football on May 5, 2012 in the last match of the season. It was a game against Port Vale in Ligue 2, who won 3-0. During his time at the Emirates, Emiliano Martinez is yet to choose his place as first-choice and has been the source of Peter Cech, Wojciech Szczęsny, David Ospina and Bernd Leno.

Once conceded five goals and still won!

If you’ve followed football passionately, you’ve known that any team that concedes five goals will almost always lose. It’s safe to say that Emiliano Marinez belongs to a small class of goalkeepers who have scored five goals in a competitive game and still managed to rank on the winning side.

He was the goalkeeper during Arsenal’s exhilarating 7-5 win over Reading. Martínez conceded four goals in the first half, leaving his side with an almost impossible task in the second half. In all honesty, he wasn’t the only culprit. Arsenal’s defensive performances were among the worst of the day. But luckily the Gunners fought back with a hat trick from Theo Walcott, a brace from Marouane Chamakh and one from Laurent Koscielny to settle the game in favor of the North London giants.
