Emelia completed her schooling in Siena College for secondary school. At age 14, she was seriously injured after being struck by a car while she was catching a tram.
After spending years in rehabilitation because of which she missed a year of school. Her mother stated that the accident changed her personality to make her more driven toward her goals. Later, she went to attend Monash University, where she achieved a Bachelor of Psychology & Management.
She has also appeared as one of the top 24 contestants in the Australian reality television program named MasterChef Australia in the year 2014. She finished with the third rank on 27 July 2014.
She was then invited to join the top 24 returning contestants in MasterChef Australia back to win in the year 2020. She was also declared the competition winner over runner-up Laura Sharrad on 20 July 2020, where she won the prize of $250,000.
She and Sharrad (then Cassai) appeared in the 2014 series, where Sharrad finished second, and she was third. She and Sharrad had also both attended Siena College (Camberwell) as teenagers, although not in the same school years.
