Emeli Sandé’s participation in the 2012 Summer Olympics boosted her rising fame. She sang “Abide with Me” during the opening ceremony, and “Heaven” accompanied a scene in which Sir Tim Berners-Lee was featured. The tape-delayed broadcast of the ceremony by NBC in the United States also featured Sandé’s song “Wonder” during the credits.

The 2013 European Border Breakers Award, given to the region’s top emerging musical artists, honored Sandé’s ability. For Best British Female and Best British Album, she won two BRIT Awards in 2013.
It was made public in January 2013 that Sandé has worked on her debut album with Ella Henderson. Two Ivor Novello Awards were given in 2013 for Sandé’s song “Next to Me”: “Best Song Musically and Lyrically” and “PRS for Music Most Performed Work.”
