Elma began her career as s a DJ on small radio stations like Radio KC in Paarl in 2004 and MFM 92.6 in Stellenbosch as from 2005to 2007, she then became a music compiler for 5 FM in 2008. For her first television presenting job, she worked for the DStv Afrikaans music channel MK from 2010, which saw her hosting the 2011 MK Awards. After the Lady Rugga competition and presenting inserts for the 2011 Rugby World Cup she became a contributor to the rugby show Boots & All on SuperSport.
