The 49ers’ leading rusher this season, Elijah Mitchell, is expected to return against the Houston Texans on Sunday.
Mitchell has battled ailments throughout his first season, but a knee injury in Week 13 against the Seattle Seahawks forced him to take a few weeks off. He’s had rib, finger, and shoulder problems this season, yet he’s still managed to play in nine games.
