According to his website, EJ has served in Infantry and Airborne units as a Ranger. At the age of 19, he enlisted in the military. He swiftly rose through the ranks, fighting in the Gulf War in 1991 and a 15-month deployment during Operation Iraqi Freedom 2 in 2004-2005.
While serving the country, EJ was awarded two Bronze Star Medals, the Legion of Merit, the Order of St. Maurice (Centurion), and over 40 additional medals and decorations.

EJ Synder’s knife also called the Warrior Survivalist’s “Skullcrusher’s Xtreme Blade” (SXB) was created to help them survive not only in the wild but also on the battlefield.
Xtreme situations need an Xtreme Blade. EJ wants to create a contemporary-day blade that pays homage to the pioneers of the past while meeting the needs of an ever-changing modern world.
As well as a tactical survival weapon that is as strong, robust, and trustworthy as he is. One that no warrior, survivalist, or outdoorsman should be without.
EJ began his search for such a knife while participating in a 21-day Xtreme Survival challenge on “Naked and Afraid” in Tanzania, Africa. The one item of equipment EJ brought with him, a knife, did not operate well in the field and became non-functional.
Being out in the field and unable to rely on your knife may be disastrous. EJ tested several blades upon his return to the United States and sought assistance from many top custom knife manufacturers he knew.
He spent many hours researching all facets of the art of knife manufacturing.
E.J. continues to instruct Soldiers in the Art of Surviving Behind Enemy Lines as an Independent Government Contractor. He also gives motivational speeches and makes appearances for many charities, causes, veteran and soldier events, and trade shows.

He grew up in harsh Italian communities in Northern New Jersey, just outside of NYC. When their father took them camping, hiking, hunting, fishing, and trapping.
EJ learned numerous outdoor skills and developed a love for the wilderness from his father’s influence. Canoeing, rafting, rock climbing, and lengthy walks helped them hone their talents.
