Eddy Wally – Biography, Cause of Death, Wife, Family

One thing in common with great musicians who are now living from their graves is that they remember qualities that are unique to them. For example, Michael Jackson, the King of Pop, will always be remembered for his moonwalk and other dance techniques which he universalized just like Elvis Presley, who is remembered as the King of Rock and Roll. For Eddy Wally, it’s hard to remember his activities in the entertainment world without his ostentatious and expensive outfits.

Although there is no way to justify this, it is believed that no Belgian celebrity has been able to wear an extensive wardrobe like Eddy Wally. It was generally assumed that Wally found his flashy dressing sense in Władziu Valentino Liberace, the American pianist who died in 1987, and Elvis Presley. To paint a better picture of Wally’s wardrobe, imagine an item acquired by a museum (Modemuseum Hasselt) and displayed with each of her 155 outfits worth over $5,000.

As we mentioned the museum, we might as well Zelzate, a municipality in Belgium where the singer-songwriter was born, is building a museum that will house all the special items Eddy enjoys and collects. The collections are said to range from old memorabilia to gifts he received, special clothes and instruments. Apparently the man attached a unique emotional value to the objects and the municipality is keeping them to honor his legacy.

Besides being a musician, the Belgian was famous as a producer and actor. As an actor, he was admired for several roles. The most recent of all is the 2006 Willy’s in marjetten. Nevertheless, the Belgian singer achieved worldwide fame with his 1965 mega song Chérie. In the first two months after the song was released, it held the top spot in the Belgian charts. It wasn’t long before the song became a worldwide hit. At some point, Wally had to do a Chinese version of the song. It was called Baobei.

Eddy Wally Biography- Family Background

Wally was born on July 12, 1932 as Eduard Van de Walle. At birth, he was just a male child born to an ordinary family in the De Katte district of Zelzate, Belgium. Soon it was obvious to everyone that the young man had a thing or two for the entertainment industry. Wardje, as he was affectionately called at the time, was very reluctant to learn the things his teachers taught. His only interest was making music and entertaining people. He loved everything about it.

From what we gathered, Eddy Wally was from such a family that had no choice but to fight for survival day in and day out. Like him, his father had a weakness for music. But then he was extremely distracted and forced to give up the passion due to the need to take care of his family. The man focused more on working in a tar factory so that he could take on the responsibility of being the sole breadwinner in the family. Other than the fact that Wally’s mother was a sweet soul, not much is known about her. It’s probably that her priority was to become a housewife. Eddy was an only son and the last of his parent’s three children. He had two older sisters.

The Van de Walle family was devastated when their supplier died aged 49. Poverty was very eager to poke fun at them until Wally took on the responsibility of taking care of his guys. Even though he was still a teenager, he sought and got a job in a textile factory. Even though he felt like he carried the world on his shoulder, Eddy didn’t give up his love for entertaining people. It is said that he would play guitar, sing and dance for his colleagues during breaks at the factory.

Wally’s wife

Remember that old platitude – about a woman being behind every successful man? It was invented for the types of Maria Roegiers, wife of Wally. As far as we know, Wally met Maria while he was at the textile factory. We love to assume Maria was enchanted by Wally’s vocals and they fell in love. After that, an engagement took place and, finally, Maria-Wally’s marriage began on July 19, 1956. The following year, on June 25, 1957, the union was blessed with a daughter whom they named Marina .

Basically, Eddy Wally’s marriage to Maria gave him the chance to devote more time to his calling. The story goes that he left the textile factory and started selling leather goods in partnership with Maria’s mother. The business flourished, and Maria often took on her responsibilities in the leather industry, allowing Wally the freedom to actively pursue a career in showbiz. It wasn’t long before Wally became a mega superstar and started touring the world.

Cause of death

It was somewhere in 2010 that it emerged that the great Belgian musician was troubled by an unpleasant body sensation while performing in Ghent, Belgium. Later, he allegedly suffered a stroke. After that, he stayed in a nursing home for some time.

Although Wally survived the stroke, he unfortunately suffered from it for quite a long time before he died. It was February 6, 2016. From what we have learned, he died of the physical consequences of a cerebral hemorrhage caused by a stroke. Of course, his passing was a sad event for his fans around the world. Nevertheless, Wally died a happy man.
