Dwight Harlan Powell, a basketball player from Canada, was born on July 20, 1991. He was a member of the Stanford Cardinal college basketball team before playing for the Dallas Mavericks in the NBA. He plays basketball for the Canadian national team.
On July 8, 2016, Powell re-signed with the Mavericks, and since then, he has accomplished numerous significant personal goals. He scored a career-high 17 points against the Chicago Bulls on December 3, 2016, and he scored 21 points against the Phoenix Suns on April 9, 2017, both times.
In the 2018 campaign, he reached 21 points twice, once on January 3 against the Golden State Warriors and once on February 28 against the Oklahoma City Thunder.
Powell achieved a new career-high of 26 points on March 6, 2019, against the Washington Wizards, then added 25 points on April 3, 2019, against the Minnesota Timberwolves. On July 6, 2019, Powell chose to exercise his option for the 2019–20 campaign and agreed to an extension with the Mavericks.
In a stunning performance on December 4, 2019, Powell recorded a season-high 24 points, five rebounds, four assists, one steal, and two blocks against the Minnesota Timberwolves. Despite making all nine of his field goal attempts and both of his three-point attempts, he was forced to leave the game due to a left arm injury.
On January 21, 2020, Powell was playing against the Los Angeles Clippers when he attempted to drive to the hoop and hurt his Achilles tendon. His season was prematurely over due to this injury.
Powell was one of only four NBA players to participate in all 82 games during the 2021–22 season. In addition, he set a new Mavericks team mark by making 18 straight field goals in a span of four games.
