Wallace worked as an intern at the University of Vermont Medical Center for a year, and he received his residency in 1984 from the University of Washington. He completed his fellowship in infectious diseases at the Naval Medical Center in 1989.
He has served as an infectious disease physician at Skagit Regional Health for five years. He retired with his wife in 2015, and moved back to his hometown to care for his ill father.

Jan and Mark had known each other since their medical school days. The couple had attended St. Louis University.
When they were in medical school, Mark proposed to her, but sadly, Jan turned him down and married someone else. But destiny had something else planned for the duo, as after 25 years, the pair reunited.
Jan had divorced his first husband at that time. Wallace left his job in California to be with his lover, and they moved to Orlando together. The couple had tried a long-distance relationship before, but it became hard for them because they missed each other terribly.
In the show, Garavaglia mentioned that she regrets not accepting his proposal 25 years ago. The couple took their relationship to the next level when they decided to tie the knot in 2007. They have been happily married for 15 years.

Jan Garavaglia was married to Kevin Kowaleski before she reunited with Mark. Garavaglia tied the knot with her first husband in 1980, but they got separated in 2005.
Kevin grew up in Elyria, Ohio, with his parents, Catherine and Robert, and his siblings, Gregory and Cindy. He completed his undergraduate degree at St. Louis University, but he went to Washington University for his medical school.
Before settling in Oviedo, he had lived in several places, including Atlanta, Miami, Jacksonville, Ottawa, and San Antonio. He worked as a pediatrician and later founded Kumon Educational Center, serving as its director as well.
Sadly, on September 25, 2016, he passed away at the age of 61 due to brain cancer.
Dr. G Has Two Children With Her First Spouse
Dr. G shared two children, Eric and Alexander Kowaleski, with her first spouse, Kevin.
Her firstborn son, Alexander, was conceived in 1988, and he is 35 years old. She gave birth to her second son, Eric, in 1994, and he is currently 29 years old. In 2003, Garavaglia raised her two sons in Central Florida.
Her older son had a hard time accepting that she was marrying someone other than his father, but he still attended the wedding for his mother’s happiness. Eric, her younger son, had walked her down the aisle.
