Video of late Dora Akunyili’s husband Dr. Chike Akunyili struggling for life was reported to have surfaced on social media following the attack by gunmen.

The husband of late Dora Akunyili was shot to death by unknown gunmen in the early hours on Wednesday.
Following the shootout, the country has been grieving the death of a Nigerian doctor and Afor Nkpor is still in shock after experiencing the deadly massacre of the beloved citizen in front of their eyes.
Akunyili was returning to his home from Onitsha after attending a lecture organized by the University of Nigeria Nsukka Alumni Association (UNAA) on Tuesday.
However, he could not return to his home safely to his loved ones as Dr. Akunyili was shot on his way home.

Late Dora Akunyili’s husband Dr. Chike died a horrific death in the middle of the road.
Dr. Chike was returning home after attending a memorial in honor of his late wife.
As per several reports, Dr. Akunyili was traced and tracked out of his car by the hired gunmen of IPOB and was shot.
The victim was reported to be grumbling and have tried to stand up after being shot but nothing could save him as he was severely injured.
Further, Dr. Chike passed out slowly after grumbling from the pain he suffered.
The video of him struggling to get up and have passed was reported to have surfaced on social media.
However, we could not find the video by the time of writing.
Dr. Chike Akunyili Cause Of Death
Dr. Chike Akunyili was hit by gunmen while returning to his home.
He was killed by the unknown gunmen on his way to Umuoji from Onitsha at Afor Nkpor in Idemili North local government of Anambra State.
After the attack, the locals believe that the assassination is linked with the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).
However, the organization has denied the accusation and has stated that they have not killed the victim.
Further, the spokesperson of IPOB, Comrade Emma Powerful has released a statement saying they vow to arrest the gunmen and deal with those who commit the crime in the region.
IPOB’s statement also includes that it was the same people who tried to kill Dora. She was also a target in 2003 as the gunmen had fired her convoy.
Dora Akunyili died in India after a 2-year battle with uterine cancer on 7 June 2014. Her body was laid to rest in Agulu.

Dr. Chike Akunyili was the husband of late former Director-General of NAFDAC and Minister of Information Prof. Dora Akunyili.
The Agulu-native Chike served as a doctor at St. Leo Hospital in Enugu.
He had spent his professional career treating the citizens across the country including several charitable grounds.
Dr. Chike and Dora were parents to six children.
