TikTok is famous for making songs go viral regardless of when they were released.
Songs from as far back as the 1950s have become popular in Tiktok. However, for songs to be popular, only a snippet is used due to the nature of the app.
And even then, the snippets are sometimes altered with the music sped up, slowed down, or mashed up.
In the case of the viral song “Don’t,” two versions are floating around. The first is the song itself, and the second, more popular version, is the sped-up one.
This sped-up version has become very popular on TikTok and out of it.
Two videos of the song have amassed more than a couple of million views on Youtube, and more than fifty thousand videos have used the song.
However, these are videos that have used the official song. Even more, videos have used the song unofficially.
Don’t Sped Up TikTok Song Lyrics
The sped-up version of “Don’t” lyrics are the same as the normal version.
The part of the lyrics that have garnered the most attention is the part that goes:
Pull up, SkrrtGet in the ride
The song has been used to describe a myriad of situations but was popularized by the video of a baby who did a turn by accidentally pulling the whoa to the song.
Since then, people have been using the song much the same way as the baby, pulling the whoa right around the time the singer says Skrrt.
The song was already popular before the TikTok trend, but the trend has made it more so, while the lyrics have become more or less forgotten.
Don’t Sped Up TikTok Song Meaning Explained
The song “Don’t” is about the narrator pining for a woman in an abusive relationship.
It details just how the woman in the song is being mistreated by her lover, such as being mistreated, taken for granted, and generally treated less than human.
The narrator then talks about how he would treat the woman instead. Painting a picture of nice dates and a respectful relationship.
He also tells the girl how special she is compared to all the others and how she should leave the man and get with him instead.
In a strange twist of fate, the song is not used in TikTok for its meaning and rather because of the part in the song where it goes, “Pull up, Skrrt.”
Who Sings Don’t Sped Up On TikTok?
Don’t is the debut single of famed R&B singer Bryson Tiller from Louisville, Kentucky.
The singer and rapper were born on January 2, 1993, and started his career in 2011 with a mixtape called Killer Instinct Vol.1. He gained mainstream success with Don’t in 2015, which has since reached to the top 20 on the Billboard Hot 100.
After the success of Don’t, Tiller was signed by RCA Records, and the song then served as the lead single to his debut studio album, Trapsoul, released in the same year. The album reached the top ten on the Billboard 200 and included another hit called Exchanged, which earned Tiller a Grammy nomination.
Since then, Tiller has won two BET awards and received the key to the city of Louisville from its Mayor, Greg Fischer.
