Labour: Does Keir Starmer Have An Illness?

Labour leader Keir Starmer tested positive for Covid 19 second time in a row. He tested positive for the first time in October 2021, and the second time in January 2022.

Last October, Sir Keir tested positive for Covid and had to skip the Budget as a result. He’s also had to self-isolate four times after coming into touch with individuals who had tested positive.

Sir Keir’s latest positive test comes as the UK revealed the highest daily case count since the outbreak began, with 218,724 cases declared on Tuesday.

Besides these, there is no illness reported of Sir Starmer. His late mother Josephine, on the other hand, was diagnosed with Still’s Disease when she was a little girl, which had a tremendous influence on her life and that of her family.

The Labour frontbencher told Paul Brand on his podcast that he “distinctly” recalled “spending nights in the high dependency unit” as a youngster as his mother fought Still’s Disease.

“She couldn’t walk, talk, eat, or really move until the final 10 years or so of her life,” he recalled, but she was “very, very determined. From the minute she was informed she wouldn’t be able to walk again, she resolved to do it.”

He claims that watching his mother suffer from Still’s Disease drove him to be “extremely determined.” The Europhile MP also said that he is unsure about his post as shadow Brexit secretary.

Keir Starmer Health Condition And Sickness

Keir Starmer is healthy and is devoid of any sickness as of now, besides the few times he was tested for covid 19. However, his mother was diagnosed with Still’s disease when she was young.

Still’s illness is a rare hereditary ailment that affects roughly 800 people in the United Kingdom. It’s a kind of arthritis that occurs when the immune system goes crazy, usually in response to a little infection, and creates extensive inflammation, which attacks joints and tissue.

Because the inflammation impairs the body’s energy-producing processes, a fever of up to 40 degrees Celsius and extreme tiredness are typical.

Previously, the major therapy was heavy dosages of steroids, which are anti-inflammatory medications.

However, the treatment’s long-term consequences can be worse than the condition itself, producing severe weight gain, weakened bones, and an increased chance of throat infections, which can damage speech.

According to the Daily Mail, a slew of new medications can now reduce the immune system reaction that produces Still’s symptoms. Excruciating limb pain, skin rashes, fevers, and exhaustion are among them.

This implies that 80% of patients may now return to work and play a more active part in caring for their children or grandkids.

If Durham police issue a fine for violating lockdown guidelines, Labour leader Sir Keir Starmer has announced he will resign. Culture Minister Chris Philp responded to Sir Keir’s comments by accusing him of trying to “push the police into clearing him,” which he called “very unacceptable.”

Conservatives have accused Sir Keir of “rank double standards”. It was when he urged Prime Minister Boris Johnson and Chancellor Rishi Sunak to quit over their attendance in Downing Street lockdown events.

Durham police began their investigation on Friday, despite earlier stating that they did not believe an offence had been committed.

The police probe is expected to take up to eight weeks, according to BBC.

The incident under inquiry occurred inside the City of Durham Labour MP Mary Foy’s constituency office when Sir Keir drank beer and ate curry while under lockdown.

There was an exception for “work purposes,” according to Labour, and Sir Keir ate “in between work needs.”
