The Olympic legend Dame Kelly Holmes broke her silence at 52, stating she is gay. She revealed she had gone through dark times, but now she has openly said, “I’m finally free.”

Dame Kelly Holmes, age 52, has not had any children. She has always kept her lip tight regarding her personal life. The former British middle-distance athlete has dedicated her life to sports and has achieved many awards throughout her long life career.
She was just 12 years old when she joined Tonbridge Athletics Club and started training herself for athletism. However, she did win her first 1500-meter race in her second season in 1983. Her idol was Steve Ovett, who inspired her during the 1980 Summer Olympics.
However, she later stepped down from the sports and joined British Army when she was 18. In the Women’s Royal Army Corps, she was a Heavy Goods Vehicle Driver. But later on, she was appointed as a primary physical training instructor.
While serving in the army, she qualified as a sergeant class 1 PTI. Furthermore, she also became a judo champion in the British Military. Also, while competing in the athletics event, she won three races in a single day, 800 meters, 3000 meters, and a relay race.
She kept herself intact in the sports and army until 1997. Since then, she left the WRAC and took her career in running till 2004. She competed in Summer Olympics in Athens and IAAF World Athletics Final in Monte Carlo. She won gold in both of the events and retired the same year.

Dame Kelly recently said, “I’m finally free to me,” she was never spotted with someone we could suspect as her partner. She is not married till today and has never revealed her relationship in the media. She was also into media after stepping down from her runner career in 2004. Kelly was born on 19 April 1970 to her parents, Derrick Holmes and Pam Norman, near Royal Tunbridge Wells in Kent. Her father was a Jamaican, whereas her mother was of an English origin. Furthermore, her dad was a car mechanic.
As mentioned in her Wiki, her mother was just 17 years old at the time of the athlete’s birth. She later married a painter and decorator Michael Norris when Dame was seven years old. As a child, she regarded her stepfather as her actual dad.
