Christian Guardino from season 20 of American Idol is a really special and incredible singer, who is among the Top 10 contestants. 

Guardino is a 21-year-old singer/songwriter from Long Island, New York. His Golden Buzzer performance on America’s Got Talent, where he sang Jackson 5-Who’s Loving You, was a sensation worldwide. 

The singer was diagnosed with a rare genetic eye disorder called Leber congenital amaurosis when he was an infant. However, after gene therapy, he has been able to cure most of his eye disorders.

Christian Guardino lives in Patchogue, Suffolk County, New York. This singer/songwriter was diagnosed with a rare genetic eye disorder, Leber’s Congenital Amaurosis.

This vision disorder usually affects the retina and can result in serious visual problems and blindness in children. As Christian was growing up, he was losing his vision steadily. 

The singer found his peace when he was singing, so at a very young age of 6, Christian gave his first live musical performance. Meanwhile, his parents were determined to cure their boy’s genetic disorder. 

He later joined gene therapy at the age of 12 in Philadelphia, which helped him get back his vision up to 70%. Now, Christian has been cured of his genetic eye disorder, and he is seen rocking the stage of American Idol.

Christian Guardino Eye Condition

Christian Guardino was diagnosed with Leber’s Congenital Amaurosis, a rare genetic eye disorder, when he was an infant.

In youngsters, this eyesight condition mainly damages the retina and can cause major visual difficulties as well as blindness. Christian’s vision deteriorated significantly as he grew older.

Christian had his first live musical performance at the age of six when he discovered his calmness in singing and music. While in darkness, the singer found his passion in singing. 

At the age of 12, he began gene therapy in Philadelphia, which helped him regain 70 percent of his vision. He first appeared in AGT, where Howie Mandel gave him a Golden Buzzer for his stunning performance where he sang Jackson 5-Who’s Loving You. Now, he is among the Top 10 contestants on America’s Got Talent. 

Is He Blind In 2022? 

Christian Guardino had a hereditary vision disorder since he was an infant, and has been cured of his vision disorder after gene therapy.

However, according to American Songwriter, the singer says that his illness is inevitable and he might go blind again. Guardino has cured Leber’s congenital amaurosis through a gene therapy session. His vision improved only after a few sessions. 

Now, the New Yorker singer has joined the Vision of Children Foundation, with a vision of making sure that everyone gets to see the world clearly.
