The former video coach of the Chicago Blackhawks, Brad Aldrich, is under investigation for sexual allegations.

He assaulted John Doe, the former Blackhawk player, on or about 8 May 2010, before the Western Conference Final game against the San Jose Sharks. He seemingly threatened Doe with a souvenir baseball bat, forcibly performed oral sex, and even masturbated on his back.

John said that he informed an employee of the team, but nothing happened. The allegations were there, which ultimately led to him leaving the team at the end of the 2009-10 season. The club paid him $20,622 in severance, along with a $15,000 playoff bonus. For the assault, he served nine months in prison.

John filed a lawsuit against the NHL franchise in Cook County Court Circuit on 7 May 2021. Another lawsuit accused the club of recommending Brad to Miami University and Houghton (Michigan) High School, where he assaulted a 16-year-old.

Then at the end of June, the franchise hired Jenner & Block LLP to conduct an independent investigation. They found that Stan Bowman and Al MacIsaac met with John McDonough, Jay Blunk, Kevin Cheveldayoff, Joel Quenneville, and James Gary in May 2010 to discuss the allegations. But, they didn’t take action until three weeks.

As a result, Browman steps down from his position as General Manager and President of Hockey Operations, while Maclsaac from Vice President of Hockey Operations.

Recently, NHL announced that they fined $2 million against the franchise for inadequate procedures and mishandling.
