Dmitry Rybolovlev was born in Perm in 1966 and today is a Russian fertilizer billionaire and real estate magnate. He started his career as the director of the medical enterprise “Magnetic” from 1991-1993. His father was the person responsible for the company’s magnetic therapy method. While living in Moscow, Dmitry Rybolovlev was appointed to the the Ministry of Finance with a special focus on securities transactions. Rybolovlev was arrested on suspicion of murdering the general director of the Perm AO Neftekhimik in 1996. He received a not guilty verdict in 1998 after Oleg Lomakin retracted his testimony and admitted to slander. Rybolovlev controls one of the largest producers of potash fertilizers called Uralkaly. He has been responsible for the total privatization of the company including the all-Russia competition of the auction and investment, since 1992. During his divorce Rybovlev sold his shares in Uralkali for $6.5 billion in 2010. In late May 2014, a Swiss court ordered Dmitry to pay his ex-wife $4.5 billion in a divorce settlement. The settlement was eventually reduced to $604 million.
