Djimon Hounsou, a Beninese-American actor and model with a net worth of around $12 million, is an inspiring story of rags to riches. Born on April 24, 1964 in Benin, he moved to Lyon, France in his early teens, thereafter moving to the United States after establishing himself as a model in Paris from 1987 to 1990.
His net worth comes from acting jobs in critically acclaimed movies such As Without You I’m Nothing, Amistad, and Cinque. His acting career started in 1989, when he appeared in Paula Abdul’s “Straight Up” music video, and he has never looked back since. He was nominated for an Oscar best-supporting actor for his role in the movie In America in 2004, as well as receiving a best-supporting actor for his role in Blood Diamonds.
Djimon Hounsou has signed lucrative deals with the likes of Calvin Klein to be their underwear model, as well as narrating in ESPN’s series “32 teams, 1 dream”, as well as continuing an active acting career.
