Dita Von Teese Biography

Dita Von Teese (Real Name: Heather Renée Sweet) is an American vedette, model, burlesque dancer, costume designer, entrepreneur, singer, and actress. She is known as the “Queen of Burlesque” for her influence in popularizing burlesque performance.

Dita Von Teese Age

She was born on 28 September 1972 in Rochester, Michigan, United States.

Dita Von Teese Family

Teese was born into a family of three children: all girls, as the second daughter of Ken Sweet and Bonnie Lindsey. Her father was a machinist while her mother was a manicurist. Lindsey was a fan of old, Golden Age-era Hollywood films hence she bought often her daughter clothes to dress up. It is from this practice that Von Teese’s interest and fascination with the actresses of that day began.

She began ballet dance training at a young age and began her solo dancing for a local ballet company at 13 years. She wanted to be a ballerina but later changed to burlesque.

Dita Von Teese Real Name

The model was born as Heather Renée Sweet but changed it to Dita Von Teese as her stage name. She adopted the name Dita to pay tribute to Dita Parlo, a silent film actress, while she chose the other two as she was required to have a surname to appear on the 2002 Playboy cover. She took up the name Von Treese from a phonebook but Playboy misspelled it to Von Teese.

  • I make a point to never, ever point out my physical flaws… this is the advice I give to women as often as I can. People don’t notice the things we see in ourselves that we hate, so why direct them to it?

Peach Quote
