Should I get a bronze or gold power supply?
To put it briefly, if you’re on a tight budget, 80+ Bronze is still pretty good. However, 80+ Gold is definitely more reliable and a better investment overall for futureproofing. There are still a lot of things that go into figuring out a power supply. Such as the fan used, build quality and overall reliability.
What does Bronze PSU mean?
The 80 Plus Bronze rating means that the PSU is rated for at least 82% efficiency at 20% load, 85% at 50% load, and 82% at 100% load. The 80 Plus Silver rating means that the PSU is rated for at least 85% efficiency at 20% load, 88% at 50% load, and 85% at 100% load.
Is Gold rated PSU worth it?
Getting a good PSU is definitely worth it, as you’ll be wiring it into most components in your computer. It doesn’t guarantee a level of quality, other than that efficient PSUs tend to have better quality components to reach their more efficient performance.
Are bronze rated PSU good?
Not bad at all. As long as you’re getting a name brand with at least a 80+ certification it’ll be reliable. A good quality Bronze PSU isn’t bad per se, it just isn’t as good as a Gold or above.
