Simon Fuller is a British music mogul and creator of Pop Idol and US Series, American Idol. Simon Cowell however is an English T.V personality who has served as a judge on Pop Idol, American Idol, Britain’s Got Talent and other shows.
Cowell is also the creator of The X Factor. From this information, it seems quite obvious that the two have had a working relationship and may even have been friends.
However, in 2004, Simon Fuller sued Simon Cowell over copyright infringement due to similarities between Fuller’s American Idol talent show and Cowell’s UK show, The X Factor.
The case was however settled in 2005 after they reached a consensus that X-Factor would not air in the United States until 2011.
Also, Cowell would remain a judge on American Idol for five more seasons. And Fuller would be granted an executive producer credit on Cowell’s show if it ever aired in the United States.
