The Scottish actor, David Mccallum’s character Dr. Donald Ducky, suffered from a stroke or a heart attack during one of the episodes. His health condition took a drastic turn after that.
One of Ducky’s many eccentricities is his colorful collection of bow ties and the tendency to communicate with the lost body while conducting an autopsy (which Mccallum makes extremely entertaining).
As per the actor, however, he has played the role with charm and good intentions most of his life. His health, in turn, remained perfectly fine while his character went through some tough times.

Did David Mccallum Have A Stroke?
David Mccallum’s character Ducky did have a stroke or a heart attack in the season nine finale of NCIS.
Fans initially believed they would lose the endearing figure. Donald “Ducky” Mallard, who was flawlessly portrayed by David Mccallum, has been a regular on the program. However, “NCIS” hasn’t shied away from killing off key figures in the past. Fans were concerned that Ducky might be terminated.
The actor potryaing Ducky on screen, however, did not suffer from a stroke and has been in good health.
Rumors About David Mccallum’s Demise
Early this week, rumors regarding the passing of the actor David Mccallum caused concerns among admirers all over the world.
The October 2022 report, however, has already been revealed to be a total fabrication and is merely the most recent in a long line of false celebrity loss reports. Fortunately, the actor most known for his work on the TV series NCIS is still in good health.
After a Facebook page dedicated to the actor called “R.I.P. David Mccallum” received close to one million “likes,” rumors of his apparent loss gained momentum on Sunday. The Scottish actor’s passing was accurately described on the “About” page for readers.
His Illness And Health Update
David Mccallum, a Scottish actor, is still alive and in fine condition. His health difficulties have not yet been disclosed to the mainstream media, though.
In truth, it is true that he suffered a heart attack in the NCIS episode, which served to lessen his screen time.
McCallum, who rose to fame in the 1960s for his role as secret agent Illya Kuryakin in the television series The Man from U.N.C.L.E., is no longer as young as he once was at the age of 89.
It’s unlikely that he will increase the number of times he appears on NCIS. Viewers can currently enjoy Ducky’s sporadic appearances, but as is the case with many NCIS cast members, Ducky’s future there is far from assured.
Did David Mccallum Leave NCIS?
Even though his work on the series has been reduced, David Mccallum hasn’t yet completely left the show.
Thus, one of the cast members of NCIS with the longest tenure, David Mccallum, who played Donald “Ducky” Mallard, is barely featured in recent seasons.
In 2003, for the procedural drama “Yankee White,” the first head medical examiner for the Naval Criminal Investigative Service was introduced.
Since 2018, McCallum’s character, Ducky, appeared in fewer episodes, leaving viewers to speculate as to whether he may leave NCIS following Leroy Jethro Gibbs (Mark Harmon).
Ducky’s Role Was Reduced So David Mccallum Could Work Less In NCIS
Speaking of Ducky’s new role, David Mccallum said that by playing a smaller part in fewer episodes, he will have more time to spend with his wife, children, six grandkids, and cat Nickie.
“I am pleased to announce that I have struck an understanding with CBS for Dr. Donald Mallard to remain with NCIS for Season 16,” he added. “It will be a constrained schedule once more. I’ll be able to spend time with Katherine, our children, six grandsons, and Nickie thanks to that agreement” (via Facebook).
It makes sense that he would want to take a break from the on-screen NCIS autopsy loss bodies and ease down a bit. Viewers can currently enjoy Ducky’s sporadic appearances, but as is the case with many NCIS cast members, Ducky’s future there is far from assured.
When Ducky ultimately decides to leave NCIS, Gibbs will undoubtedly make a special appearance to help celebrate the occasion. Given the lengthy connection between the two, it would be appropriate for Ducky to have the same immaculate legacy as Gibbs on the show.
David Mccallum Is The Last Remaining Original NCIS Cast Member
None of the original NCIS season 1 primary cast members would remain if David Mccallum went beyond his limited position and left the show.
It makes sense that the entire original cast would eventually be replaced on such a long-running program as NCIS, which made its debut in 2003, almost 20 years ago.
For those who have watched the show from the start, it would still be the end of an era. McCallum’s diminished presence does, however, increase the show’s plausibility.
Ducky would be nearing the end of his career, much like the actor. Reduced screen time increases the immersion of NCIS and ensures that when people near retirement, they will likely be less visible at work.
