Cal Harris got recognition when Dateline premiered the episode of his story of the death of his wife, Michele.

It all took place in 2001 when the woman suddenly disappeared on the night of September 11, after returning from her boyfriend’s place.

Her car was found stranded and traces of blood were found from Cal’s place, which eventually diverted all the suspects towards him.

The fact that their relationship was cold and the couple was in constant disputes further fueled the suspect, leading to Cal’s arrest.

However, following years-long court procedures and undergoing four trials, Harris was acquitted of all charges.

The couple was not the happiest when the incident unfolded.

It all started going downhill when Cal and Michele’s marriage started failing in 1999.

Although they had the youngest of their four children in 2000, things were not right between them.

Cal was reportedly involved in an extramarital affair. Furthermore, Michele also had a boyfriend at the place where she worked, as per The Cinemaholic.

They used to talk only because they lived in the same house.

Later, it was discovered that Cal also used to abuse her physically at various times.

All these facts led to the arrest of the man as the prime suspect behind the killing.

It was thought that he killed his wife on the night of September 11 but his neighbor’s claim that he had seen Michele in the morning of September 12 weakened the case.

As a result, no concrete proof hinting Cal as the man behind the happening was found.

So, following a lengthy trial process, he was discharged from the murder charges in 2016.

Cal is now living a free life in Owego, New York.
