Morphine drummer Billy Conway passed after a battle with cancer. This article covers everything we know about him.
Billy Conway was an American drummer who was 65 at his death.
He used to tour with Jeffrey Foucault since 2013. Likewise, he also backed Chris Smither in recent years. He is a relentlessly inventive, eerily intuitive player who is also a widely respected and beloved musician.
Some of his credits include, More From the Levee, Call Me Lucky, Blood Brothers, and many others.
At present, the news on Billy’s funeral remains unknown. But, hopefully, he rests in peace.
Rest in Peace, Billy Conway, drummer for Morphine.
I interviewed him this summer for a project; he was so kind and—I don’t use this word casually—*wise.* One of the few interviews where I re-listened to it for pure enjoyment. Safe travels. Thank you for all the wonderful music. pic.twitter.com/kwIf6Z3TKP

Obituary – Did Billy Conway Have A Wife?
Morphine’s drummer Billy Conway died on 18 December 2021.
He was 65 years old at the time of the sad event. Jeffrey Foucault, his friend/bandmate, confirmed the musician’s death. As for the cause of death, reports say that it was cancer. The band Vapors of Morphine on Facebook wrote their condolences.
Doctors diagnosed Billy with bowel malignancy. He then underwent surgery in October 2018, followed by six months of chemotherapy and radiation. In 2020, he found out that the illness had spread to his liver. The same year he released his solo album, Outside Inside.
He was born sometime in 1956 in Owatonna, Minnesota. In the 1970s, he attended Yale University and earned a degree in psychology. During his senior years, he was the captain of Yale’s ice hockey team in the 1978-79 season. Although invited to try out for the 1980 U.S. Olympic hockey team, a tear in his knee ligament prevented it.

After graduation, Billy and three others, Jim Fitting, Mark Sandman, and David Champagne, found the band, Treat Her Right. The group’s notable feature was the cocktail drum.
Then, he collaborated with Sandman-created Morphine, whose original drummer was Jerome Deupree. In 1999, the founder suffered a fatal heart attack. Afterward, he proceeded to form subsequent bands, Orchestra Morphine and Twinemen. He also performed periodically with Vapors of Morphine.
Following his music career, Conway also worked as a producer and engineer who founded Hi-n-Dry.
As for his wife, he likely never married. However, his longtime partner of over thirty years off stage is Laurie Sargent. She is a vocalist and songwriter between the 1980s to 1990s, active in Boston. The two later moved to Montana and started their organic farm.

Billy Conway’s net worth was probably in thousands of dollars.
Although he never revealed his financial statements publically, the estimate is due to his career. His income sources were music sales and brand endorsements (if any).
