James Dyson net worth: James Dyson is an industrial designer from England and has a net worth of $20 billion. Born in Cromer, Norfolk, England, James Dyson attended the Royal College of Art, where he majored in furniture and interior design, and then shifted his focus to engineering. He was the co-designer of the Sea Truck, a high- speed watercraft for landing other boats without harbor facilities. The Sea Truck won multiple design awards in the early 70s and launched his career. He began experimenting with designs utilizing balls, first creating the “Ballbarrow”, a wheelbarrow with a ball instead of a wheel, followed by the “Trolleyball” and the “Wheelboat”. In the late 70s, he began developing a vacuum cleaner that used cyclonic separation in order to pick up dirt. His new vacuum cleaner eliminated the need for a vacuum bag, and remained more efficient over time. He was unable to get anyone to manufacture the vacuum in the UK, where the vacuum bag industry was worth $100 million. He ended up launching the product in Japan, and setting up his own manufacturing company. The Dyson vacuum cleaner went on to become a worldwide phenomenon, and is now the most popular vacuum cleaner in the UK.
