Deirdre Lovejoy has appeared in cameos or recurring roles on a number of TV shows, including Lie to Me, Law & Order: Criminal Intent, Criminal Minds, Body of Proof, Girls, Orange Is the New Black, American Gothic, and Shameless.
The Gathering (2001), Six Degrees of Separation (1990), Getting and Spending (1998), and Nora Ephron’s Lucky Guy (2013), starring Tom Hanks, were among the Broadway productions in which Lovejoy appeared.
Lovejoy participated in the 2019 theatrical production Promethea in Prison, which featured a reading of the Prometheus Bound plays by the ancient Greeks. Sonja Sohn, a Lovejoy co-star from The Wire, was one of the all-female actors in the production.
The one-person play Lovejoy wrote, Bird Elephant China, was also presented in 2019, and she played the lead role. Lovejoy’s series of unexplained seizures in 2009, which left her with hallucinations, memory loss, and speech difficulty, served as the impetus for this personal work. Fortunately, since 2009, Lovejoy hasn’t experienced a seizure.
