Death Of Willie Kimani: Who Killed Him? Incidents Details To Know About

The Death Of Willie Kimani

The death of attorney Willie Kimani has resulted in the conviction of police officers Fredrick Leliman, Stephen Cheburet, Sylvia Wanjiku, and the police informant Peter Ngugi.

The verdict was handed down six years after the rights attorney had been brutally killed.

However, in her communication to the parties this week, Justice Jessie Lessit set a date for the judgment on July 22. Justice Jessie Lessit decided the case earlier this year and gave the judge sixty days to decide.

To conclude, Justice Lessit examined a total of 117 pieces of evidence, including prosecution and defense witnesses’ testimony. There were 46 witnesses for the prosecution and 34 for the defense.

Since the beginning of the trial, the judge has reportedly told the court that she has drafted more than 6,000 pages of proceedings, making it the largest case file she has ever handled in her professional life.

Who Is Murderer Fredrick Leliman?

Fredrick Leliman, the police officer, suspected of orchestrating the savage killings of lawyer Willie Kimani and two others five years ago, has allegedly detailed how he shot Josephat Mwenda. Mwenda was a client of Willie Kimani’s law firm.

On April 10, 2015, Leliman confirmed that he shot Mwenda with the Cesca handgun that belonged to him personally.

The event took place a few months before their remains were discovered floating in the River Athi, Oldonyo Sabuk, a week after they had been reported missing.

He disclosed to the court that he was a skilled marksman and that he was armed with two magazines and thirty rounds of ammunition on that particular day.

Incident Details To Know About

On June 23, 2016, Willie, a lawyer for the International Justice Mission, was brutally murdered with his client, Josephat Mwenda, and taxi driver, Joseph Muiruri. They were all targeted for their roles in the case.

As the three victims and their driver were leaving the Mavoko law courts, where Willie had been with Mwenda, his client, they were kidnapped from their vehicle. After some time had passed, their bodies were discovered discarded in the Oldonyo Sabuk River. The gunny sacks contained their remains.

The victims were taken hostage and held at the Syokimau police station for a few hours before being moved to a field where they were executed.

The prosecution argued that every one of the defendants was responsible for some aspect of the murder, and they requested that the court find all of them guilty.

The prosecution has informed the court that they have given proof that shows each of the five defendants had a hand in organizing the horrifying killings of the victims beyond a reasonable doubt.
