Dean Swihart, a schoolteacher was the husband of Jackie Walorski.
In 1995, Dean Swihart married Jackie Walorski and they moved to Romania to work as missionaries in 2000.
“Jackie and her husband Dean previously spent four years as missionaries in Romania, where they started and ran a foundation to provide food and medical supplies to impoverished children there,” the Congressional biography says.
They left Romania for their Indiana home following the 9/11 terrorist attack which Walorski once said was the driving force for her to go into politics.
Dean Swihart currently works as a K-6 Music teacher at Hums Elementary and Twin Branch Elementary.

A member of the Republican Party, she was a member of the Indiana House of Representatives, representing Indiana’s 21st district, from 2005 to 2010. She had been a member of the House GOP’s deputy whip team.
