NBA basketball player Davis Bertans, a native of Latvia, is presently a member of the Dallas Mavericks. He represents the Latvian national team and is referred to as the “Latvian Laser.”
The Indiana Pacers selected Bertans with the 42nd overall choice in the 2011 NBA Draft, but his rights were later traded to the San Antonio Spurs.
Bertans played for a number of teams in Latvia and Slovenia before joining the NBA. He began his playing career in 2007–2008 with ASK Kadeti II before transferring to BAA Riga, where he played from 2008–2010.
