David Ospina Wife, Sister, Height, Weight, Net Worth, Salary, Bio

David Ospina is a Colombian goalkeeper who plays in the English Premier League for Arsenal FC as well as the Colombian national team. Having played for a good number of years, he has become very important for the country and the club. Here’s everything there is to know about him.

the biography

He was born David Ospina Ramírez on August 31, 1988 in the Colombian municipality of Medellin. There is hardly any information on how he was raised except that he was raised alongside his younger sister, Daniela Ospina.

The goalkeeper whose father is Hernan Ospina and mother Lucía Ramírez started playing football at a very young age and it was to become his life path.

Club football career

He started his club career for Atlético Nacional. He played with the club’s youth team until he got a deserved promotion in 2005 to keep for the senior club. He would have the opportunity to play 97 games for the club before he left for Nice in 2008. Previously, he helped the club win two Categoria Primera Apertura titles.

He played for the French side from then on. In 2014, English football club Arsenal came looking for his signature. Although the true value of his contract with Arsenal has not been revealed, it was expected to be close to $4m (£3m).

By the end of the 2017/2018 season, Ospina had already recorded 70 games in all competitions. His most contested season was the 2014/2015 season, where he played 23 games. The following season was the 2017/2018 season with 21 games. Nonetheless, he won some trophies including the FA Community Shield and two FA Cup titles.

International football career

The first occasion for the Colombian Arsenal goalkeeper was in 2005 when he played for the country’s Under-20 team. Although his first assignment was at the 2005 FIFA World Youth Championship, he didn’t get the chance to make an appearance until the 2007 South American U-20 Championship. It was the same year when his run with the youth team ended after 12 games.

David Ospina immediately got a promotion to wear the national team shirt the same year. Although the country has yet to win any trophies since arriving, he has made quite a name for himself after becoming the country’s second-youngest goalkeeper at national level in 2010.

More so, he would concede the least during the 2014 FIFA World Cup qualifiers for which he played as the main goalkeeper. In the World Cup proper, he helped the country reach the quarter-finals, putting in his best performance in the competition. Thanks to his performance, he was able to appear on the list of candidates for the 2015 Ballon d’Or.

By the time he was invited to play the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia, the goalkeeper had already made 85 appearances for the country.

Salary

Given his contract with Arsenal in 2014, he is expected to leave the club in 2019 or sign a new contract. Nevertheless, based on the signed contract, he receives a salary of more than $40,000 per week.

David Ospina’s Wife and Sister

As stated earlier, David Ospina has a sister, Daniela Ospina. She was born on September 22, 1992, and like her big brother, she also plays sports. Daniela plays volleyball for Colombia.

On December 24, 2010, Daniela Ospina got married to another Colombian footballer, James Rodriguez. But the marriage ended in divorce in 2017, although the couple have a daughter between them.

The eldest, Ospina, married Jessica Sterling in 2012 and they have two children together: a daughter named Dulce María and a son named Maximiliano.

Height, weight and measurements

The Colombian keeper has a very good height and weight for any goalkeeper and that’s one of the things that helped him succeed. He is 182.88 cm (6 ft 0 in) tall and weighs 76 kg (168 lb).

For its general measurements, there is nothing about Arsenal’s gunshot that is planned in the public domain. That said, Ospina, who is set to become his club’s number one goalkeeper after the 2018 World Cup, is in fine form and well built.
