David Moores First Wife: Who Was Kathy Anders?

Kathy Anders was the first wife of British football executive, chairman and honorary life president of Liverpool F.C. David Moores.

Kathy Anders was a model and beauty queen. She became Miss England in 1974.

Prior to the Miss England, Kathy, who lived on Bury Road with her family, escaped death when her sports car skidded and somersaulted on a motorway approach road on March 7, 1973.

She was trapped in the overturned car for an hour before help came. Anders was in hospital for nearly a year and still had a metal pin in her hip when she won the Miss England crown at London’s Lyceum ballroom.

Kathy once worked as a petrol pump attendant at a service station on Halifax Road.

She also went on to take part in the Miss United Kingdom and Miss Europe, finishing runner-up both times.

Kathy Anders featured in TV advertisements for the Littlewoods Group and married David Moores in February 1976 at the 14th century parish church in the village of Halsall.

After just 18 months of marriage, Kathy Anders died in a car crash on September 4, 1977, at the age of 26, when Moores’s Jaguar car toppled into a ditch on a road in Lancashire.
