David Fenkel is a co-founder of Oscilloscope and a producer who is known for launching A24.
He co-founded Oscilloscope alongside Adam Yauch, better known as MCA, from the seminal hip-hop group Beastie Boys. Fenkel and Yauch started the company in 2008, and it worked as both an independent film company and distributor alongside a recording studio and film production facility.
Sadly, Yauch passed away on May 4, 2012, and Fenkel left the company. Dan Berger now heads it.
After leaving Oscilloscope, Fenkel decided to co-found A24 alongside John Hodges and Daniel Katz. A24 is an independent entertainment company in a similar vein to Oscilloscope that specializes in film and television production and film distribution.
Based in New York City, the company has garnered much critical and commercial success.
Who Is David Fenkel’s Wife, Shani Ankori?
David Fenkel is married to Shani Ankori, the Director of Marketing at IFC Films.
As the Director of Marketing at IFC Films, Ankori is also involved in the movie-making world like her husband. As a Director of Marketing, her job entails managing aspects related to the production and implementation of any campaign.
Like A24, IFC movies also focus on left-field movies, with a focus on independent and foreign movies. Some of the most popular movies from IFC Films are Y Tu Mama Tambien, My Big Fat Greek Wedding, Enter the Void, Blue is the Warmest Colour, and Boyhood.
As seen from this selection of movies, IFC Films focuses primarily on Foreign movies of note. However, their catalog extends to romantic comedies, psychological thrillers, and documentaries about various people of note.
Ankori is one of the many hands on deck at IFC Films, which has helped make the company one of the more successful subsidiaries of AMC Networks. As for Ankori, not a lot is known about the woman except that she studied at Bowdoin College.
Bowdoin College is a private liberal arts college. It is located in Brunswick, Maine. She seems to be very private as not much is known about her, and there aren’t a lot of pieces of information about her except the aforementioned ones. Her LinkedIn account is bare compared to the two pieces of information about her schooling and current job.
She does have an Instagram page, but it seems to be private, so there isn’t much more to say about her.
David Fenkel And Shani Ankori’s Children
As stated above, Shani Ankori is very private about her life, and her husband, David Fenkel, isn’t that far away.
The two are intensely private about their lives and have not mentioned anything about their personal lives and much less their family.
As such, it is impossible to know whether they have children. He seems to be completely about his business life, and it’s hard not to blame him.
A24 is fast becoming one of the most successful and prestigious film production companies, not even in the United States. Many critics nowadays seem content to show good faith in a movie if it simply has an A24 production credit.
The company has even moved to television with one of the biggest shows in the last couple of years, Euphoria.
As for Shani Ankori, IFC Films is growing continuously and has seen more prestige in its film career.
Perhaps because of where their lives are taking them, the question of children hasn’t arisen and knowing what little is known about the two, even if it does, the public won’t hear anything about it. Another reason behind their privacy is the fact that both Fenkel and Ankori are not celebrities. They work behind the scenes.
Due to A24’s rise, people have started holding more weight towards the people behind A24, but for all extents and purposes, David Fenkel is a non-celebrity basking in fame through his hard work.
David Fenkel Is A Co-Founder Of Oscilloscope
David Fenkel has long been a man of the movie scene as he started his career as an executive in TH!NKFilm.
TH!NKFilm was a film distribution company in the US that ran from September 2001 to October 5, 2010.
As stated above, Fenkel co-founded Oscilloscope with Adam Yauch in 2008, two years before the end of TH!NKFilm and left the company shortly after Yauch’s passing away. He is most known for being one of the three co-founders of the production company A24.
He co-founded the production company alongside Daniel Katz and John Hodges on August 20, 2012.
All three of them had come from success. Katz was formerly the leader of the film finance group at Guggenheim Partners, and Hodges had served as Big Beach’s Head of Production and Development.
Katz’s previous company provided the seed money for their new company, A24, and started distributing films in 2013.
Since then, A24 has seen a rise in success, with their five highest-grossing movies grossing $100 million, $80.2 million, $79 million, $65 million, and $50 million, respectively.

The company has. ahold over the film industry not seen since Miramax in the 1990s.
