His family claims that the doctor did not care for him as they initially thought it was a Salmonella infection and did not provide him with the needed attention and care.

David Dowell died in December after reportedly accepting a dare to eat a Gecko during a Christmas party. The following day, his family had to call an ambulance after he started vomiting, which was green in color.
They insisted that the paramedics take the patient to the hospital despite their initial reluctance. It was diagnosed after three days that he may have Salmonella. It is a bacterium frequently spread through food and can cause diarrhea, fever, and cramps up to 72 hours after infection.
Dowell’s family initially believed he contracted the virus from eating chicken, but a friend later reminded them of the gecko dare. Although it was unclear if he really consumed the Gecko, medical professionals at Mater Hospital, where he was receiving care, said that it may have been the source of the infection.
His condition worsened, but doctors said it was just all the fluid in his stomach. But, he died during surgery on December 11 because of organ failure.
His family had questioned the hospital’s cafe ever since his death. The family shared that they think the doctors did not care much for him before taking him to the intensive care unit after severe pain that he could not control.
Six months have passed since he died, but his partner worries for their three children. She is still waiting for answers and claims that the doctors really did not care.
The family had to beg them to operate on him. Finally, they put him in a coma because he could not control the pain, and the family never got to say a proper goodbye to him.

An Australian man, David Dowell, reportedly died after eating a worm. Initially, it was diagnosed that he may have died of salmonella illness, but it was later said that it might have been caused by a parasite tapeworm found in Asian house geckos.
According to doctors, his symptoms- a bloated stomach, black urine, and green bile are more severe than Salmonella and indicative of a liver problem and abdominal obstruction.
Taxonomist and ecologist specializing in the parasites of Asian house geckos said that a tapeworm called Spirometra might be to blame for his death, reports Yahoo News.
Nonetheless, there is no concrete evidence that he may have eaten the Gecko because there were people who said they saw him eat it, and some said they did not.
Likewise, his partner said that she does not want the world to remember him like this and still searches for an answer six months after his demise.
