An American rock singer-songwriter named David Roland Cook rose to prominence after winning the seventh season of American Idol in 2008.
David Cook and his friend Bobby Kerr formed the band Axium, originally known as Red Eye, while they were still in high school. Cook wrote the song “Red Hot,” his first composition when he was fifteen years old.
Evan Sula-Goff from 8stops7 was impressed by the band’s potential and urged Cook to work on an album. This support came from Sula-Goff, who stopped by Cook’s school to judge a Mr. Jaguar competition during which Cook and his band gave a performance of Guns N’ Roses’ “Paradise City.”
When the song “Hold” was chosen for widespread play in movie theaters, Axium attained a certain level of success. Additionally, they won the “Got Milk?” competition’s “Best Kansas City Band” award in 2004 and were named one of the top 15 independent bands in the nation.
The band recorded numerous live albums, including “Alive in Tulsa,” in addition to three studio albums: “Matter of Time,” “Blindsided,” and “The Story Thus Far.”
