Dave Courtney first met Ms Pinto, known artistically as JennyBean, at one of Courtney’s Fitness Centre clubs towards the end of the 1980s.
Jennifer, who was reportedly an aspiring rap artist at the time, was at the club to perform with her sister, where she was able to catch the eye of a fearsome hardman who had built himself a reputation through his affiliation with famous East End gangsters such as the Krays, Roy Shaw and Lenny McLean.
Jennifer was initially unaware of his criminal background, but she grew closer to Dave, the man who is said to have been the inspiration for Vinnie Jones’ character Big Chris in Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels.
However, relations between the couple became increasingly tense, with matters coming to a head in 2004, when Courtney was accused of assaulting Ms Pinto over an alleged lesbian affair.
