Dave Coulier Career

Through the Los Angeles comedy circuit, Coulier met future Full House co-star Bob Saget. Coulier briefly shared a couch with Saget and his then-wife Sherri in the early 1980s as he battled to launch his career.

For the 1986 season of Saturday Night Live, he was cast as a player. However, casting changes were made just before the season began, and he was dropped from the show.

The change was made because many of the producers thought he was too similar in humor style to Dana Carvey, who was also joining the show in 1986.

Coulier has done voice work for shows such as Scooby and Scrappy-Doo, The Real Ghostbusters, Slimer! And the Real Ghostbusters (taking over the role of Peter Venkman after Lorenzo Music left the role), Extreme Ghostbusters, Muppet Babies (Baby Animal, Baby Bunsen, Bean Bunsen, and Uncle Statler and Waldorf, as well as a preteen Janice for one episode), and a preteen Janice for one episode.

He was also the host of the Nickelodeon comedy series Out of Control from 1984 to 1985. Coulier is most recognized for his role as Joey Gladstone on ABC’s Full House. He was on the show from 1987 through 1995, when it was canceled.

He was well-known for his impersonations and voices.

Coulier also starred on George and Leo and Nick Freno: Licensed Teacher, in addition to Full House.

He’s also hosted America’s Funniest People and Opportunity Knocks (originally with Arleen Sorkin, then with Tawny Kitaen).

He has also voiced Felix the Cat on a few occasions and was a voice actor in Yogi Bear and the Magical Flight of the Spruce Goose. He also released a solo album, Cut It Out, which he described as a “tribute to tank tops and short shorts.”

Coulier has also had a few acting roles, including cameos in the Disney Channel Original Movies The Thirteenth Year and The Even Stevens Movie (where he played a reality show host), as well as the Nickelodeon Original Movie Shredderman Rules.

Whispers and Balls, an unaired FX pilot, he wrote and starred in.

In the year 2000, he started F3 Entertainment, a children’s entertainment firm. Coulier had an appearance in season three of The Surreal Life in 2003.

He was paired with Olympic medalist Nancy Kerrigan on the FOX television reality show Skating with Celebrities in 2006.

They were eliminated in the fourth episode.

He is currently a member of the Duck’s Breath Mystery Theater touring comedy team (which he thinks is “not nearly as weird” as Full House) and the host of the Animal Kidding series.

His work on Robot Chicken is possibly his most “mature” to date, with situations like Popeye violently punching Wimpy over a debt being voiced.

On June 2, 2008, Coulier was elected as the new commissioner of Chikara, a professional wrestling organization based in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, by the Chikara Board of Directors, a position he maintained for two years until the next election (which took place on May 25, 2010).

Coulier succeeds Bob Saget, a previous Commissioner and fellow Full House cast member. He voiced Bob McKenzie on the Canadian animated series Bob & Doug in 2009, which was based on the SCTV characters Bob and Doug McKenzie. Coulier was the first non-Rick Moranis actor to play the role, as Moranis (who also serves as executive producer) was not interested in reprising his role.

Coulier acknowledges that longstanding fans may be wary of his interpretation of the character, but he couldn’t pass up the chance to play one of his favorite comic characters.

“Stepping into Rick Moranis’ footsteps is a great responsibility.

It’s such a well-known, fantastic character, and I suppose the only thing I have going for me is that it sounds similar and that half of my family is Canadian.”

Bathurst, New Brunswick is where his mother’s family hails from.

Coulier continued to host shows like America’s Funniest People and America’s Most Talented Kid, which he hosted on a regular basis. As a stand-up comedian, he continues to perform across the United States and Canada. For the Full House spin-off Fuller House, Coulier reprised his role as Joey Gladstone.

Dave Coulier As a Pilot

Coulier is a private pilot who owns and flies a B35 Bonanza. His first general aviation flight was at the age of five in Michigan. He earned his pilot’s license at the same airport later in 1979 and is now instrument rated. In 2012, he did more flight training in a Cirrus SR20 to “keep current.” He is part of the Hat in the Ring Society to support the AOPA Foundation, an organization that promotes safe flying.
