Dave Chappelle Will be touring between May 28 – June 19, 2022.
Lauded as one of the most brilliant comedians of his generation, Dave Chappelle has cultivated an arsenal of bitingly witty jokes to make you laugh out loud all night long.
In the early hours of May 4, 2022, Chappelle was performing at the Hollywood Bowl, where he was tackled onstage by an attacker from the audience, who was swiftly subdued by security.
The attacker was later found to have been armed with replica handgun containing a knife blade.
The upcoming documentary Dave Chappelle: Live in Real Life directed by Steven Bognar and Julia Reichert will be released about Chappelle’s concerts in Yellow Springs during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The film premiered at Tribeca Film Festival in June 2021, followed by a series of roadshow events in the United States and Canada and a limited theatrical release on November 19, 2021.
On October 5, 2021, Chappelle starred in his sixth and final Netflix special The Closer. The special was met with backlash from the transgender community for Chappelle’s jokes in the special.
Calls for the removal of the special were rejected by Netflix CEO Ted Sarandos, who claimed freedom of artistic expression.
