After almost one year of Convington’s death, police reported that they had a prime suspect, Egypt’s ex-boyfriend Kenny Michalak in March 2018. However, he denied any involvement in Egypt’s murder during the custody investigation.
Despite being publicly recognized as a person of interest, authorities have yet to prosecute him with anything linked to Egypt’s investigation. But, there is still no point in claiming Kenny could be the murder.
Tina Covington, Egypt’s mother, is skeptical that Kenny is the murderer. While she recognizes that Egypt and Kenny had a toxic relationship, she feels the police designated him as a person of interest owing to a need to pin the crime on someone.
Nonetheless, three alleged perpetrators were convicted of Egypt’s murder: Shane Lamar Evans, Timothy Eugene Moore, and Shandon Ray Groom. They were arrested in November of 2020.
The suspected suspects have been charged with first-degree murder, criminal murder, house invasion, and weapons offenses. The killers were seeking marijuana at her residence, but the motivation for the murders has yet to be uncovered.
