Peter Wright is a professional Scottish darts player who is fighting for the title of the World Championship. Why does he have an English accent, and will he win in tonight’s final?
After a stunning victory over the former champion Gary Anderson, Peter Wright secured his place in the final of the PDC World Championship.
He defeated Anderson 6-4 in the semi-final at Alexandra Palace. Next up, the 2020 winner will battle it out against Michael Smith, the runner-up three years ago, in the final taking place on Monday.
Back in July of 2021, Peter Wright assured the world with confidence that not only will he win the World Matchplay, but he will also go home with the World Championship in his hands.
Let’s see if reality is anything like what he predicted.
Darts: Why Does Peter Wright Have An English Accent, Is He Scottish Or Irish?
Peter Wright is Scottish through and through as he was born in Livingston, the third-largest town in Scotland. After he relocated to London at a young age, he lost his Scottish accent.
The professional darts player from Scotland is the current World Matchplay Champion. Moreover, he is ranked No. 2 globally on the Order of Merit.
At the beginning of the ongoing PDC World Championship, Peter stated, “In my head, before I retire, I’m going to win the title at least five times.”
After a huge defeat in the opening round of the 1995 BDO World Darts Championship, he had given up on dart. After that, he spent the next ten years in England, playing in local leagues.
Wright’s wife Joanne had to urge him to resume his professional career after they had both been watching the Grand Slam of Darts and Wright claimed to have beaten some of the competitors.

Parents Origin Of Peter Wright -Where Is He From?
Even though Peter Wright has an English accent, he was born in Scotland. At 5, his mother took their family to London to start a new life. His mother was quite young when she gave birth to him.
The reason behind their move south was his family. After an attempt to remove him from the possession of his mother as they deemed her unfit for the position, they decided to try their luck somewhere else where no one knew them.
They were in a tight financial situation, yet they managed to get by. Wright received his first set of darts on his 13th birthday, but due to a lack of funds, he practiced against a tree.
Darts has been the reason behind the millions of pounds sitting in his bank account.
