He skipped his senior season to enter the NFL Draft. The New York Jets selected Revis with the 14th pick of the first round in the 2007 draft. After several seasons with the Jets, he was traded to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2013 for a first round pick and a 2014 fourth rounder. He became a free agent a year later after the Bucs released him. He soon signed with the New England Patriots where he played for one season. Darrelle then played two more seasons with the Jets and one season with the Kansas City Chiefs.

Darrelle trademarked “Revis Island”, the name given to his spot on the field because he frequently shuts down wide receivers.
