Danielle Christine Fishel is a multi-talented American actress, director, model, and television personality who was born on May 5, 1981. Her career began in theater, where she received early acclaim for her roles in community versions of popular classics such as The Wizard of Oz and Peter Pan.
It wasn’t long before she dabbled in acting, making appearances on famous sitcoms like Full House and Harry and the Hendersons. However, it was in 1993 that Fishel made her breakthrough as Topanga Lawrence on the ABC adolescent sitcom Boy Meets World.
She played the part so charmingly and expertly in its successor, Girl Meets World, which ran on the Disney Channel from 2014 to 2017, that she later returned to the part.
Fishel, then 12 years old, landed the enduring role of Topanga Lawrence-Matthews on the ABC comedy Boy Meets World in 1993. Topanga was initially supposed to be a supporting character, but she soon started to appear frequently and finally became a program staple.
Audiences were won over by Fishel’s interpretation of the role as a knowledgeable and sophisticated girl who was older than her years. She replaced the geeky Stuart Minkus as the class’s intellectual backbone. After seven years on air, Boy Meets World ended its spectacular run in 2000.
