Dan Scavino Political advisor|Trump’s Campaign

He worked for a few years at Coca-Cola and Galderma before being promoted to be the general manager of Trump National Golf Club Westchester. He has also been involved with Donald Trump’s presidential campaign since it began in June 2015.

Trump-appointed Scavino as the campaign’s director of social media in February 2016. He previously worked as the general manager of Trump National Golf Club Westchester and the director of social media for the Donald Trump 2016 presidential campaign.

Over July 4, 2016 weekend, controversy arose when Trump’s Twitter account posted an image selected by Scavino of Hillary Clinton with a text in the shape of a Star of David calling her the “Most Corrupt Candidate Ever.” The image had originally appeared on an anti-Semitic, white supremacist message board. Trump’s team defended its use saying that the star was a “sheriff’s badge”, before eventually deleting it and posting a new picture with a circle replacing the star.

Dan Scavino White House

He was announced to be White House Director of Social Media under President Donald Trump on December 22, 2016. In April 2017, the ethics attorney Richard Painter accused Dan of violating the Hatch Act of 1939 (which bars executive branch employees from engaging in electoral activities) after Scavino personal Twitter account, had called for defeating Congressman Justin Amash.

The United States Office of Special Counsel informed Dan that his tweet had indeed violated the Hatch Act and warned that future violations “could result in further action.” In May 2019, the Politico reported that Dan frequented the R/The Donald subreddit.

On June 18, 2019, USA Today released an article stating that Scavino is the one who writes Trump’s tweets. In March 2020, Scavino shared a deceptively edited video that appeared to show Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden accidentally endorsing Donald Trump. He is the longest-serving aide in the Trump Administration.

Dan Scavino Trump

Dan Scavino met businessman Donald Trump in 1990 when he served as his caddie, and he later served as the general manager of one of Trump golf clubs and he was just 16 years old at the time. He gained national attention in July 2016 after it was revealed that he was responsible for sourcing and tweeting, from Trump’s account, an image of Hillary Clinton that many critics saw as anti-Semitic because the backdrop was a sea of cash along with a six-pointed star (like the Star of David) and the words “most corrupt candidate ever!”

And during the 2016 presidential campaign, he was a constant at Trump’s side and could often be seen at campaign rallies taking photographs and filming videos, which he would post on Trump’s social media accounts.

Dan Scavino Tweets for trump

Scavino could often be seen in a suit at the side of the stage, taking photos of the immense rally crowds with his iPhone and later, while scowling at his laptop aboard Trump’s 757, posting the images to Facebook. While at the White House, Scavino has continued his bombastic style of tweeting, which has led him to run afoul of the law.

In June 2017, after the Democratic-leaning watchdog organization, CREW, filed a complaint, the Office of the Special Counsel said that Scavino had violated the Hatch Act when he tweeted at Rep. Justin Amash (R-Mich.) and encouraged Trump supporters to defeat him.

The Hatch Act limits certain political activities of federal government employees. The tweet came about when Trump was in a spat with some members of the Freedom Caucus, of which Amash is a member. The representative had refused to support Trump’s plan to repeal the Affordable Care Act.
