Biography of Dan Harmon
Dan Harmon was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on January 3, 1973. Although this is where he was raised, there is virtually no information about his childhood or even his family. Nonetheless, he described his dad, Herme Harmon, as a jackpot dad he hit, and he wasn’t going to trade it for another.
He was raised by both parents alongside a brother, Bones Harmon. But then his parents later divorced and he stayed with his mother.
For his education, the actor attended Brown Deer High School and from there he went to Marquette University and then Glendale Community College for a while.
Looking back at his career, the Community star started out with ComedySportz as a member, and it was with the group that he produced the 1996 album, Knock Down the Grandmaster. One of his first works in 1999 was Thermal Vision and Jack which was a pilot he created. He went on to produce Computerman, Googas, and Mary Shelley’s Frankenhole among others.
Throughout his career, Dan Harmon has won awards such as a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Original Music and Lyrics and an OFTA Television Award for Outstanding Writing in a Comedy Series. He won the awards in 2009 and 2012 respectively.
He also worked on other films, including Monster House and Kung Fu Panda which he was said to have had a hand in writing. Some of his production credits include Harmontown which is his popular podcast, Anomalisa, and Doctor Strange. Another thing the actor has gotten involved in is his web series, Guest Grumps. He started the series in 2017 and it continues to run.
Wife and Divorce
The actor and producer was married to actress and comedian Erin McGathy. The two dated long enough before deciding to take the next step by getting engaged in 2013. On November 15, 2014, they decided to make it even more official by becoming husband and wife in a ceremony at the Natural Los Angeles History Museum.
McGathy, born in 1985, became popular for her comedy as well as works such as Community and also as Harmon’s wife.
Although his marriage to Dan was big and publicized, the pair were unable to stay on course for a year before announcing their divorce in October 2015. While Dan Harmon took to his twitter account to update his followers on the actor, the actor turned to his podcast to express it. Of course, divorce in Hollywood is nothing new, but it came as a surprise to many because the marriage was young and it was heavily publicized.
