Damon Wayans Jr Parents: Meet Damon Wayans and Lisa Thorner

From April 2011 until May 2013, Wayans Jr. enjoyed great success as Brad Williams in the ABC comedy series Happy Endings. Eliza Coupe, Elisha Cuthbert, Zachary Knighton, Adam Pally, and Casey Wilson were among the remarkable ensemble group who gave him accolades from reviewers and a loyal following.

Sadly, despite the show’s broad appeal, ABC abruptly canceled it after the third season concluded on May 3, 2013. Wayans Jr.’s outstanding work in Happy Endings earned him awards for “Best Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series” at both the NAACP Image Awards and the Critic’s Choice Television Awards.

While Happy Endings, starring Zooey Deschanel, was still airing in May 2011, Wayans Jr. landed a supporting role as Coach on the Fox sitcom New Girl. It was originally planned to recast Wayans Jr. because of the potential conflict with his commitment to Happy Endings.

However, the writers of the show ultimately decided to keep his character, and starting with the second episode, Lamorne Morris stepped over to play Winston, a former roommate who was honing his basketball skills in Latvia.
