Damon Wayans Jr. had tremendous success as Brad Williams on the ABC comedy series Happy Endings from April 2011 until May 2013. He received critical acclaim and a devoted fanbase among a talented ensemble cast that included Eliza Coupe, Elisha Cuthbert, Zachary Knighton, Adam Pally, and Casey Wilson.
Sadly, despite its popularity, ABC canceled the show when its third season ended on May 3, 2013. For his remarkable work on Happy Endings, Wayans Jr. garnered nominated for “Best Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series” at both the NAACP Image Awards and the Critic’s Choice Television Awards.
Wayans Jr. secured a supporting role as Coach on the Fox comedy New Girl, which starred Zooey Deschanel, in May 2011, when Happy Endings was still airing. Originally, Wayans Jr.’s character was set to be recast owing to a probable conflict with his commitment to Happy Endings.
However, the producers chose to keep his character, and from the second episode on, he was replaced by Lamorne Morris, who played Winston, a former roommate who was pursuing a basketball career in Latvia.
