Cristiano Ronaldo ‘very proud’ after record-breaking penalty

Cristiano Ronaldo scored a penalty against Ghana on Thursday, making him the first player to score in five World Cups.

Ronaldo scored a record-breaking goal against Ghana and felt “very proud” of himself. With this World Cup opening victory, the Portuguese forward added another record to his already impressive career.

After the game, Ronaldo said, “It was a beautiful moment, my fifth World Cup,” and added, “We won.”

“We started on a good foot. It’s a very important win. We know in these competitions the first match is fundamental.”

Ronaldo scored the first of Portugal’s three goals against a tenacious Ghana team. With the scoreless draw between Uruguay and South Korea, the record holder helped put his team in control of Group H.

When Portugal faces Uruguay on Monday, Ronaldo will likely start up front for a second straight game.
